One way we become more like Jesus is through serving and giving back to our community. We have many different serving opportunities that require all kinds of different skills and personalities. Look through this list and see where God might lead you to serve.


BFC Volunteer Opportunities

Nursery Hugger
We love to have extra hands in our nursery rooms to hold and rock the little ones! Some need a little extra snuggle time to adjust. We also love to have our volunteer huggers read bible stories and sing to the littles!
Time commitment: Sunday mornings, in any of all of these time slots: 9-10am, 10-11am, 11am-12pm. You can serve as often as you would like.

Pre-K Sunday School Teacher
Volunteers will teach Sunday School curriculum to Pre-K aged children (curriculum provided).
Time commitment: Sunday mornings, 9:50-10:50am

9am and 11am Service Elementary Worship Volunteer NO PREP!
Volunteers in this position monitor kids during "Hang Time" (before and after service), worship alongside them during the service, and assist with drop off/pick up in grade-specific classrooms. Most importantly, adult leaders in Elementary Worship have the opportunity to remind kids that they are loved and that they belong here at BFC.
Time commitment: One Sunday per month or as often as you would like

Elementary Wednesday Night Adult Leader
Our Wednesday night adult leaders begin the night in either our 1st & 2nd grade classroom or our 3rd & 4th grade classroom and helps students check in and monitor free play. Then, we all come together in the Elementary Worship room for worship, a game, and a Bible story lesson. Adults during this time worship alongside our kids and help to keep them engaged. Then kids go back to their grade-specific classrooms with their adult leaders for small group questions, a snack, an activity, free play, and pick-up. The adult leader helps to facilitate this time while making sure that our kids know that they are loved and that they belong here at BFC.
Time commitment: Wednesdays, 6:10-8:15pm (Biweekly rotation available)

Sunday School Assistant: (9:45-10:55am) NO PREP! 
Volunteers in this position help monitor and redirect kids during Sunday School in their grade-specific classroom, help facilitate small group discussions (questions provided), and help kids build a strong foundation in God and the Bible.  Time commitment: One Sunday per month or as often as you would like

Elementary Student Buddy: (Sunday School and Second Service) NO PREP!
Volunteers in this position work one-on-one with a student who may need a little extra help with Sunday morning activities. This would include: gentle redirections, repeating instructions, and providing social cues as needed. Most importantly, we want to help this child feel safe and loved.
Time commitment: One Sunday per month or as often as you would like

11am Service Early Childhood Worship Volunteer
Volunteers in our Worship Service help kids stay engaged in worship and play.
Time commitment: One Sunday per month, 10:45am-12:15pm

Basketball Coaches

We believe the time you invest in coaching and mentoring is significant and plays a vital role in living out our mission at BFC. We want to see God transform lives and we believe that He is at work in us and in you by building relationships with those in our community that might not know Jesus. We would love to have you head coach or assistant coach a team to invest in the lives of kids and families from our church and our community! It’s always more than sports!
Time commitment: Tuesday or Thursday (1 hour practice) and Saturdays (1 hour game) January 3- March 4.

Referee and Scorekeeper
We believe our sports ministry plays a vital role in living out our mission at BFC. We want to see God transform lives and we believe that He is at work in us and in you by building relationships with those in our community that might not know Jesus through sports. If you have experience refereeing or keeping score during basketball games, we would love your help to support our league and our mission!
Time commitment: Saturdays, January 3-March 4; 9am-Noon

Soccer Coaches
We would love to have you head coach or assistant coach a team to invest in the lives of kids and families from our church and our community! We will have Mighty Mites Soccer for ages 3-4 and Kids Soccer for ages 5-11.  It’s always more than sports!
Time commitment:
Mighty Mites- Saturday mornings Sept 7- Oct 5
Kids Soccer- Weekly practice and Saturday games Sept 3- Nov 2

Game Day Concession Volunteer
Join us as we get the opportunity to serve families from our church and the community on game days in the concession. Roles include serving pre-packaged snacks and drinks, giving high fives, and handing out free popsicles after games. Join the team to serve on an occasional basis of 3- 5 game days.
Time commitment: Saturday mornings Sept 7-Nov 2

Game Day Hospitality Team
Join us as we get the opportunity to cultivate a comfortable and welcoming environment for families in our community as they come for game days. Whether you get to help welcome families to the Family Life Park, give a high five, or even serve as our game day crossing guard we have a spot for you to join the team!
Time commitment: Saturday mornings Sept 7-Nov 2

Stage Crew
Changing the stage from the First Service setup to the Second Service setup requires many hands. We'd love your help!
Time commitment: Sundays, 9:45am-10:30am (Rotation based on current number of volunteers)

Camera Operator
As a camera operator, you will capture our services for both the congregation in the room and those watching online. Operators must be able to take repeated direction from a director, and adapt quickly. Additionally, the ability to tell if the shot is in focus is important.
Time commitment: Every other Sunday, 8-10am (First Service), or 10am-12pm (Second Service)

Funeral Meal Team

Volunteers on this team help to prepare and serve a meal to families prior to the funeral of their loved one. Meals are prepared and served on campus at BFC.

Parking Lot Greeter

Parking lot greeters are stationed in the parking lot near First-Time Guest Parking, keeping an eye on cars as they are parked. Greeters will catch new guests and help direct them to Guest Check-In.

Time Commitment: Sunday mornings 8:40-9:05 (1st service) or 10:40-11:05 (2nd service)

Door Greeter

Door greeters open doors and greet people as they enter the building.Greeters should be aware of visitors or regular attenders who might have questions and personally connect them with a lobby greeter who can assist them at Guest Check-In.

Time Commitment: Sunday mornings 8:40-9:05 (1st service) or 10:40-11:05 (2nd service)

Lobby Greeter

Lobby greeters will have a general knowledge about room locations; community group options; BFC Kids, Preteens, and Students programming; current BFC events; and BFC discipleship opportunities. Greeters stationed at the Welcome Center will have a more comprehensive knowledge and be well-versed in each of these areas.

Time Commitment: Sunday mornings 8:40-9:05 (1st service) or 10:40-11:05 (2nd service)

Golf Cart Driver

Golf cart drivers offer transportation to individuals from the parking lot to the main church building. They play an extremely important role in providing a positive experience for guests and regular attenders and have the unique opportunity of giving a positive first impression of BFC. This ministry is vital because of BFC’s large campus, and is especially helpful during times of inclement weather, or if a guest is elderly or physically disabled.

Section Greeter

Section greeters will be stationed throughout the Sanctuary at the different groupings of seats. Section greeters will identify which people regularly sit in their assigned section, and over time will be able to identify new people in their sections. The goal of section greeters is not to simply greet, but to make connections with attenders of Bethany First Church.

Coffee Bar Host

We want our guests to feel as warm and welcomed as possible. Serving coffee is a small, yet impactful, way to create a positive first impression for guests and repeat visitors.

Female College Mentor
Do you love mentoring the upcoming generation? As a college mentor, you'll get to connect with college students through one on one opportunities like coffee or lunch, and get to know and invest in them. Mentors also help lead the the weekly girls group on Wednesday nights.
Time commitment: Wednesdays, 8-9:30pm

Wednesday Night Youth Worker
Being a Wednesday Night Youth Worker means meeting students where they are and showing them the love of Jesus! As a Wednesday Night Youth Worker, you'll be spending time with students during their "rec time" by talking, playing games, or sports. Then you'll attend either Middle School Service at 6:30PM or High School Service at 7:15PM. You'll sit with students and have awesome opportunities to help them become more like Jesus!
Time commitment: Wednesday Nights, 5:50-8pm. You can serve every week or every-other week.

Camp Youth Worker
Every summer, Camp Bond provides our students a place to become more like Jesus and to help some come to know Jesus for the very first time!

As a Camp Youth Worker, you'll be going to Tishomingo, Oklahoma for one of two camps: Middle School Camp June 7-11 High School Camp June 14-18

You'll be staying with students in Camp Bond's newest dorms, hanging out with them during the days, and going to life-transforming services with them in the mornings and evenings!
Time commitment: Monday, 11am - Friday, 1pm

BFC Mission Teams to Gallup
BFC has two teams going to Gallup, NM, this summer. The first team goes May 22-29 and will provide a VBS with Pastor Chris Davis in Gallup and renovation at Ramah Church of the Nazarene. The second team is scheduled for June 5-12 and will be taking truckloads of wood to Gallup, NM, and to Dilkon, AZ.

At least 33% of people living on the reservation in these states greatly need firewood to cook and heat their homes. This team will also deliver firewood to shut-ins in great need of this wood.
Time commitment: These teams are gone for one week; from Saturday to a Saturday

 
Celebrate Recovery.jpg

Tuesday Evening Youth Leader
The Landing is Celebrate Recovery’s student ministry geared towards Junior High and High School age students. The curriculum is designed to mirror the same material as the adult Celebrate Recovery curriculum, only packaged for students. The Landing exists to provide a safe place for our students to process life and the struggles that accompany it, provide tools to help them live emotionally and spiritually healthy lives, and point them towards the freedom found in Jesus Christ. A typical night in the Landing consists of Connect Time, Worship, Teaching time, Small Group, and Fellowship Time. Most importantly, adult leaders in the Landing have the opportunity to remind kids that they are loved, valued, and belong at BFC. We need volunteers to connect with the students, teach lessons, facilitate small groups and lead worship. We serve dinner from 5:30 pm to 6:15 pm. Many come to participate in the meal which is free for all.
Time commitment: Tuesdays, 6-8:30pm


Tuesday Evening Kids Leader
Celebration Place is the children’s ministry for Celebrate Recovery. Children from the ages of 5 years to 5th grade will participate in Free Play, Worship, Teaching Time, Small Group, and Centers. Curriculum is provided which mirrors the lessons taught in Celebrate Recovery. We refer to it as a “Pre-Covery” Program. We strive to partner with parents to help break the cycle of dysfunction destroying so many of our families. Most importantly, adult leaders in Celebration Place have the opportunity to remind kids that they are loved, valued, and belong at BFC. Celebrate Recovery meets for dinner from 5:30 to 6:15 pm. Many parents bring their children to eat dinner. You will be welcome to participate in eating dinner before volunteering. The meal is free to all.
Time commitment: Tuesdays, 6-8:30pm

 

Breakaway Sponsor
Breakaway serves individuals with special needs from seventh grade to adults. A Breakaway Sponsor is available to support and listen to individuals attending Breakaway and help them engage in their surroundings: table activities and various organized activities for groups and individuals.
Time Commitment: 5-8:30 pm on the second Saturday of the month. Dinner is provided.

Breakaway Meals
A meal is provided for Breakaway sponsors who volunteer at Breakaway each month. You, your small group, or Sunday School class can get involved by volunteering to prepare and/or provide a meal for 20 volunteers on the second Saturday of the month.
Time commitment: prepare and/or provide a meal to be ready at 5 pm on the second Saturday of the month.

Little Breakaway Buddy
Little Breakaway is a ministry for kids with special needs from kindergarten through sixth grade. Building a relationship with our kids is key to being a buddy. A buddy volunteer will be partnered with a child to help him or her with activities, crafts and play time. Training is not required, just a heart for children!
Time commitment: The second Saturday of the month from 5 to 7:30pm. Dinner is provided.

Little Breakaway Junior Buddy
We also have an opportunity for children who are 13 to 17 years old to serve as a junior buddy volunteer. A Junior Buddy will be partnered up with a child and an adult volunteer to assist with participation in crafts, activities and play time. Come hang out and have fun!
Time commitment: The second Saturday of the month from 5 to 7:30 pm Dinner is provided.

Tulakes Food Center Food Stocking Team

Stocking the Tulakes Food Center for clients takes many hands! Volunteers are needed at the Food Center each Wednesday to help prepare the Food Center for shopping day.
